Life Span of Wolves

In the wild it can be up to 13 years or more, in a protected wolf park or a controlled area of land, a wolf can live to be up to 16 years old. But most wolves usually live to be to around 8 years of age. The record wolf lifespan is about 20 years of age. life in the wild is difficult for the wolf, with human population taking up more and more wolf habitat and with those who would kill the wolf, a long lifespan is unlikely. In a controlled enviroment they can live longer because they are safe from the outside dangers of traps, snares,enemies and poisons

Melville Island Wolf

There are many different types of wolves that roam our world today, and some wolves that used to roam the world.

Everyday I will post about a type of wolf so today I will start with the Melville Island wolf, it's scientific name is Canis Lupus Arctos.

This wolf only occurs on the arctic islands from Melville Island to Ellesmere Island. This animal is white and of medium size.

Save the Wolves

Wolves every day are being shot and killed. What are wolves to most people, Fur coats? People say one wolf here and there is fine, but if 900 poachers and hunters are shooting one wolf a day in wolf season, 900 wolves are gone and dead.
Scientists say there are only about 100,000 wolves left in the world, the population has dropped significantly and the population keeps dropping. We used to have 600million wolves! Where have they gone, you ask.....? one word.....Hunters. So please, the wolves need us and we need them to keep population of animals under control!
